I chose this as my object because of my interest in the African American experience and the influence that Christianity has on it. The words in the bible and ideologies associated with it have been used as weapons throughout human history and even now. As an African American and former Christian, the intersections of these hyphenates permeated every aspect of my life. This semester, I sought out how Christianity influenced colonialism and thus the Atlantic slave trade, and moving forward how the America heavily influenced by Christianity continues to brutalize and capitalize on black suffering.
